October 1, 2021 – On Thursday, September 30, 2021, JCF officer, Constable Michael Garricks was placed before the St. Mary Parish Court, by way of summons, to answer to charges of Assault Occasioning Bodily Harm. These charges were as a result of an investigation by the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) and a ruling by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).

Constable Garricks was charged in relation to the assault of another JCF officer which occurred in Brainerd, St. Mary on June 24, 2019. The complainant was reportedly struck several times with a baton, by the officer, following his refusal to be searched, in circumstances alleged as a stop and search incident.

The mention date has been set for October 21, 2021.
