November 25, 2021 – Today, Thursday, November 25, 2021, JCF officer, Detective Constable Omar Davy was placed before the May Pen Parish Court, by way of summons, to answer to charges of Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm. These charges were as a result of an investigation by the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) and a ruling by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).

Detective Constable Davy was charged in relation to the assault of a male at a bar in Mocho, Clarendon which occurred on March 24, 2014. The complainant was reportedly questioned and searched by Detective Constable Davy and it is alleged that the complainant was subsequently hit, causing his upper incisor tooth to be dislodged. Medical attention was sought for the injuries sustained.

The Presiding Judge, His Honour Mr. Dale Staple, ordered that the matter be referred to the Restorative Justice Centre for mediation and all parties agreed. Detective Constable Davy was bound over until January 31, 2022.
