October 22, 2017 – Ten concerned police officers were served with Notices to furnish the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) with statements on Tuesday, October 24, 2017.
Of the ten police officers, three will be interviewed under Section 21 (under oath).
This after the Commission launched an investigation into a fatal shooting incident of an unidentified man in the Waterloo District in St. Catherine on Friday, October 20, 2017.
The incident was the result of a planned operation carried out by the Spanish Town Police in the area.
- The incident scene was processed by a team of investigators from INDECOM and all exhibits to include spent casings and two fire arms reportedly recovered by police officers following the incident.
- The concerned officers’ service fire arms were taken out of circulation, packaged and sent to the forensic laboratory for testing. The recovered fire arms were also sent to the lab for testing.
- The body of the deceased was also processed by INDECOM’s Forensic team.
- Up to the time of INDECOM’s departure from the incident scene, no witnesses had come forward.
