January 22, 2018 – The Independent Commission of Investigations fully supports the recent decision by the Government of Jamaica to declare a State of Emergency in the parish of St. James.
The Commission is confident that the security forces will perform their duties within their own Use of Force Policies. We are particularly pleased that as a part of the strategic approach to the State of Emergency, members of the security forces have received refresher training in human rights and public engagement.
Our dedicated staff members of the Western Regional Office, located in Montego Bay, continue to serve the region. We anticipate mutual cooperation with the members of the security forces as they work to restore order and public safety in St. James.
Members of the public can contact our Western Regional Office at 1.876.940.2310 or 1.876.971.0442 or call our mobile number 1.876.878.0167. We can also be reached toll free at: 1.888.991.5555 or 1.888.935.5550.
