January 11, 2018 – The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has launched investigations into four fatal shooting incidents resulting in five deaths on January 10 and January 11, 2018. The incidents occurred in St. Ann, St. Mary and St. Andrew.
Parry Town, Ocho Rios, St. Ann
The police have reported the double fatal shooting of two males, Cabrini Rose and Kirkland Rowe yesterday, January 10, at approximately 8:30am. It is reported that a team of four JCF officers were informed of the location of two wanted men. On approaching the house the men opened gunfire on them, which was returned. A .38 revolver with one live round and two spent casings were alleged as recovered from the scene. The concerned officers were interviewed and they provided their initial accounts and were served with notices to furnish statements on Friday.
Mannings Hill Road, Kingston 8, St. Andrew
The police have reported that on January 10 at approximately 4:30pm, two JCF officers were travelling along Mannings Hill Road to Constant Spring Road, when they signaled a motorcycle to stop. However, the pillion rider jumped off and fired in the direction of the officers. Gunfire was returned, and an officer gave chase of the man. The man was later discovered with a wound to his upper body and a .45 semi automatic pistol allegedly recovered. The rider of the motorcycle was taken into police custody.
Gully Road, Boscobel, St. Mary
The police have reported that at approximately 12:25 am (January 11) a team of four JCF officers received information about a man who was allegedly in possession of a firearm. The police further reported that upon arrival, there was a confrontation which resulted in the death of the man. A .380 pistol was reported as recovered from the scene. The concerned officers gave an initial account and were served with notices to be interviewed on January 16, 2018. The deceased has been identified as David McLean.
Windsor, St. Ann
The police have reported that approximately 1:15 pm today, five JCF officers went to a premises in Windsor, when an allegedly armed man fired at them. The fire was returned and the man was discovered to be injured. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. The INDECOM Team are currently still on the scene. The man is unidentified at this time.
