October 12, 2021 – The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) responded to and began investigations into a police fatal shooting of a man along Golding Avenue, Papine in St. Andrew on October 11. The deceased has been identified as 35 year old, Christopher “Dog Paw” Linton.

It is reported that police officers, intercepted a vehicle along Golding Avenue, while allegedly in search of a gray vehicle with armed men. The intercepted vehicle had two occupants, a female driver and a male passenger. It was reported that the occupants of the vehicle were directed to exit the vehicle, when the male allegedly exited and pointed a firearm at the police officers. The law enforcement officers fired in the direction of the man; the man received gunshot injuries and was pronounced dead at the University Hospital of the West Indies. A Colt .45 pistol with serial number was reported as recovered from the incident scene.

At the time of INDECOM’s scene response the female driver was not injured or hospitalized as a result of this incident.

The incident scene was processed by INDECOM and included collection of forensic evidence for testing, initial interviews of law enforcement officers, witness canvassing and statement collection. Police officers involved in the incident, were issued Section 21 Notices to submit written statements and attend INDECOM’s office to be interviewed.
