February 21, 2017 – The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is conducting an investigation into the fatal shooting of an unidentified man on the compound of Industrial Dispute Tribunal, Ellesmere Road. The incident occurred at approximately 10:00pm, last night (February 20).

The report, received by INDECOM from the police, is that the incident occurred after a chase and subsequent exchange of gunfire, while two JCF officers were on enquiries in the Half-Way-Tree area. The now deceased, was taken to Kingston Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The police have reported that a Beretta 9mm pistol was recovered. This has been processed by the team from INDECOM.

The team has also processed the scene, the body of the deceased and continue to make enquiries. The concerned officers gave an initial account and were served with Notices to visit the INDECOM office for their account of the incident to be recorded.
