July 16, 2026 – On July 15, 2026 Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) officer, Constable Patrick Walters appeared before the St. Mary Circuit Court in relation to the death of D’Jonnay Graham, where he entered pleas for the two offences for which he was charged.
D’Jonnay Graham was fatally shot on June 25, 2025 in Essex District, Richmond, St. Mary.
In its ruling to INDECOM, dated July 17, 2025, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) directed that Constable Walters be charged for the offences of:
- Using a Firearm to Commit a Felony, contrary to s.14(2) Firearms (Prohibition, Restriction and Regulation) Act
- Murder contrary to common law
Constable Walters pleaded guilty to the charge of Using a Firearm to Commit a Felony. In relation to the murder charge, he pleaded not guilty to murder but guilty to manslaughter.
The matter will be transferred to the Home Circuit Court in Kingston for sentencing, which is scheduled for September 25, 2026. Constable Walters was remanded in custody pending sentencing.
