INDECOM has a website, we’re on Facebook, we’re on Twitter…and we’re always in the news, so you may be wondering why we even need a blog?

We want to connect directly with the public and the rest of the world of course…so this blog is your connection to INDECOM.

We have connected with many families in Jamaica and around the world through our work. Sometimes the circumstances under which we make this connection are not very pleasant as it is usually following an incident.

Other than the fact that blogs are a great way of giving un-editorialized content to the public and by extension, the world, we thought it was important to talk to the world about topics that interest readers that may not be featured news. Moving away from the “if it bleeds, it leads” mantra often held by media houses, we want to share our research, our opinions and some light information about our operational and administrative staff.

This will be the avenue through which the public can get to know INDECOM outside of the headlines of the national newspapers. While our mandate is to investigate reports of abuse by Agents of the State, we are also an organization of people who take our jobs very seriously and strive to arm ourselves with certifications, and knowledge needed to be the best at what we do.

Through this blog, you will get to know us and hopefully appreciate the work of the Commission.

So go ahead, ask a question. Reflect and give us feedback on what we have written. Suggest topics…we are open!

You can expect an update twice a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays, so tune in.

On behalf of the entire INDECOM family, welcome to our blog!
